Adding Field Scouting Observations (app)

Add weed, insect and/or disease observations to your fields.

Adding scouting observations (Desktop)

FROM THE Mobile App:

1. EITHER:

    A) Go to SWAT RECORDS > Farm View > Fields for 'farm'. The farm map is colour-coded by crop type. Select a field and click the binocular icon to open the Field Scouting module.
    B) Select Field Operations > Field Scouting > Add Observation or Pick Field

2. Select Pick Field if you have past scouting observations that you want to Copy as New from. The Copy as New feature is beneficial when the field has been scouted for multiple years.

3. From Add Observation, a new screen will open up where scouting observations can be recorded.

4. Select Field and Crop. There must be a crop associated with the field for the insect and disease dropdowns to work properly.

5. Report Type indicates if the scouting observation timing is pre-seed, pre-emerge, in-crop, general, etc.

6. Weed Rating gives a general overview of the weed pressure in the field.

7. Volunteer Rating gives a general overview of the volunteer weed pressure in the field.

8. Weeds - Add weeds and use the dropdown options, starting with Weed Type. The dropdowns for each subsequent section will be tied to the Weed Type originally selected. For example, if Perennial is selected, the weed name options will include only Perennial weed types.

9. Insects, Crop Health, and Disease - Dropdown options are tied to the crop that was selected for the field.

10. Comments/Pictures - Add any relevant comments or pictures here. Take Picture will open the camera within the app. Note that pictures taken within the app can not be extracted and viewed within your phone's general photo reel. If you want photos to be stored within your phone's general storage and photo reel, choose the Attach Picture option.

11. Click Accept and sync the phone.

NOTE: There is the ability to open pdf versions of field scouting observations on the desktop software. Ensure all scouting observations are synced up and go to the Field Scouting Report page on the desktop.
