Does very dry soil affect mapping?

In our earliest days we used a Veris machine to collect EC data. Veris EC data is affected by dry conditions. Electrical conductivity can’t flow from one disk to the other without soil moisture. We have since mapped many, many acres of dry, and frozen, ground using an EM38 without any issues. However, soil moisture consistency is very important with any kind of EC mapping instrument. If we begin mapping a field while it’s dry and then finish after a very large amount of rain the data will change. In those cases we will remap the entire field.
